Staying with us

Things you need to know...aka terms and conditions.

Orchard Hideaway is the trading name of East Bowley Holidays Ltd, the provider of your holiday.

Hideaway Cabin is bookable through Helpful Holidays, please visit their website for their terms and conditions.

By making a camping booking with us you accept the following terms and conditions:

The Greener Camping Club

In order to comply with countryside planning policy, we operate as a Greener Camping Club members-only campsite. The Club was established by people with a passion for sustainable, eco-friendly camping holidays. When you book your holiday with us you will be enrolled as a member of the Club. Membership costs just £12 for the calendar year and gives you access to some of the greenest campsites in the UK. It also includes participation in the Club’s ‘Trees for Life’ scheme, whereby a tree is planted for every member we enrol. Read more about The Greener Camping Club here.

Payment

We need a 50% conditionally-refundable deposit when booking a camping pitch. Receipt of the deposit secures your booking. On booking we also need full payment (£12) of your Greener Camping Club membership. Pitches are held provisionally for up to seven days, after which, if we have not received your deposit and membership, the dates will be released. The balance is due before arrival.

Cancellation by You

If you cancel your camping holiday six weeks or more before your arrival date, we will refund your deposit less a 20% admin fee and the £12 Greener Camping Club membership fee (which is non refundable). If you cancel your holiday less than six weeks before your arrival date and we are able to re-let your holiday for the dates you have booked, we will refund your deposit and balance, less a 20% admin fee. The Greener Camping Club membership fee is non refundable. In the event that we are unable re-let your dates, no refund will be made. Bookings are not transferable to another family without our prior agreement in writing. If you are concerned about the prospect of cancellation, please take out holiday insurance.

Cancellation by Us

Orchard Hideaway reserves the right to cancel a camping holiday at short notice if we are unable to provide safe accommodation or camping environment, due to extreme weather conditions, ill health, fire, flooding or any other extenuating circumstances beyond our control. Under such circumstances, your full payment will be returned to you. Orchard Hideaway cannot accept liability or responsibility for any loss, including consequential loss, caused by cancellation. The Greener Camping Club membership fee is non refundable.

Children and Adult Safety

There are many opportunities for play and adventure at Orchard Hideaway. Our aim is for children to enjoy the space and freedom of the campsite, however there are some risks you need to be aware of. Each pitch has a fire basket for your sole use, there is a small stream running along the bottom of the orchard, a ditch along the sides, areas are deliberately left uncut for wildlife and so stinging nettles, brambles and thistles grow here, we are a working farm and so there are tractors around the lanes. These risks are small and should be self-evident - but if you are not clear, please ask! Orchard Hideaway accepts no responsibility for injury incurred on site. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children on site at all times.

Arrival and Departure

Arrival times are between 4pm and 7pm, we'll meet you at East Bowley Farmhouse and take you to the orchard. Please call us if you think you may arrive later so that we can make arrangements. On departure day, please vacate your camping pitch by 12 noon, or the Hideaway Cabin by 10am.

Cars

We want to keep the orchard special and so vehicles are not permitted inside, there is space for one car per pitch at the entrance to Orchard Hideaway, the speed limit here is walking pace. If you are camping there's a wheelbarrow to help transport your belongings the short distance downhill to your pitch. For the Hideaway Cabin there's a parking space beside your accommodation.

Consideration for others

This is a peaceful campsite, opened for the enjoyment of nature. We do not allow stereos or other sound systems and only quiet talking after 10pm. Acoustic instruments can be played before then. Noisy visitors who disturb other guests will be asked politely to leave, without refund. If you are out for the night and arrive back late, please return as quietly as possible. Please pitch your tent at least 6m from others.

Recycling and Rubbish

All rubbish must be recycled. That means separating glass, tins, plastic, paper, cardboard, food waste etc. and placing them in the designated bins in the car park (food waste bin in the camp kitchen and cabin). What is left, ie. only items that are not recyclable, can be placed in the general waste bin.

Camp Fires and Cooking

Please only use good condition stoves or the designated fire baskets and do not enlarge or alter the position of them. Do not leave your stove or fire basket unattended and think carefully about whether or not to light a fire if it is windy. Orchard Hideaway accepts no liability for injury or damage caused by your campfire. By lighting it you accept full responsibility for it. A bucket for water is provided on each pitch. If weather is very hot and dry Orchard Hideaway may introduce a temporary fire ban.

Fire

In case of an emergency phone 999, the campsite what3words location is cabin.torch.wand, OS grid reference is SS 91671 03751 - details on the noticeboard in the camp kitchen.  To alert others on the campsite shout FIRE, FIRE, the fire assembly point is the campsite entrance. No naked flames (stoves or lamps) to be left burning unattended in tents, no gas lamps to be used in sleeping tents. Gas bottles should be switched off at valve when not in use.

Day visitors are only permitted by prior agreement.
